The goal of the “Thumbs Up Foundation” (501C3 status pending) is to raise awareness and financially support organizations related to A.L.S. (aka Lou Gehrig’s disease), and the education of minority women in math, science and health related fields.

The “Thumbs Up Foundation” was started in memory of the greatest lady I ever knew, my Mother, Suzette Benn.  Unfortunately, on Feburary 1st 2007, at the young age of 60, Suzette Benn passed after battling A.L.S. (aka Lou Gehrig's disease). Through this foundation I hope to not only remember my Mother’s legacy, but also support those things that were near and dear to her heart and played a key role in her life.

My Mother devoted her life to community health & education.  She always had a special affinity for health & science and helping others.  Therefore, one of the key focus areas of the foundation will be to sponsor scholarships for young, minority women who plan to study health & science in college.

A.L.S. is a debilitating disease that is almost always fatal.  In many instances it strikes people without any rhyme or reason.  Even if they “do all the right things” throughout their life.  A core focus of the foundation will be raising awareness of this disease and financially supporting organizations who are doing research to cure and/or assist people currently afflicted with ALS.
